LEARNIX
LEARNIX is a LINUX distribution based on KNOPPIX. It is modified to include
software for building simultations:
- RADIANCE, a package for
lighting simulations, developed by the Lawrence Barkeley
Laboratories
- ESP-r, a suite of
applications for building simulations, including thermal, CFD, lighting
(with RADIANCE) and life-cycle analysis
Both software packages are taught on LEARN's
MSc courses:
- Masters Architecture, Energy and Sustainability
- European Masters in the Integration of Renewables Energies into
Buildings
LEARNIX runs off the CD-ROM and can use existing partitions (including
Windows partitions and USB storage devices) to store user data. With
LEARNIX, students are able to use our top-of-the-range simulation software
on their private computers without the need to install a UNIX operating
system.
